UK100
What products or services does your company offer that can support local authorities to reach their net zero targets?

Sustainable Ventures are on a mission to develop 1,000 climate tech businesses by 2025, and so far have directly supported over 800 startups and helped to create 6,500 green jobs. Their industry-leading business support programmes and workspaces are designed in partnership with local authorities and government bodies looking to strengthen green economies at a national and local level.

What sort of local authorities do you think your product or service could help?

Any local authorities with a climate agenda or a focus on climate policy, improving the green economy and closing the green skills gap

Can you give us an example of a local authority you have worked with? What challenge were they facing, what was your intervention and what was the outcome?

In January 2022, we received funding from the Lambeth Economic Resilience Fund to launch a two-and-a-half-year program designed to help Lambeth’s SMEs expand, raise climate awareness, and strengthen community bonds.

Through our targeted programs, we’ve supported:

  • 50 climate startups and scale-ups in Lambeth to achieve critical growth milestones with tailored business support and mentoring (1:1 Business Support).
  • 89 Lambeth SMEs with Net Zero training, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to develop their own Net Zero strategies (Net Zero Guidebook and 1:1)
  • 13 partnerships between established organisations in Lambeth and climate-focused startups, driving innovative solutions to pressing sustainability challenges (Innovation Challenge)

We are incredibly proud of the close and collaborative relationship we have fostered with Lambeth Council and the subsequent climate impact that we have been able to create in the borough.

We consider our collaboration with Lambeth, across Workspace and Programmes to be the gold standard of climate tech partnerships.

What is the cost of your support to Local authorities?

Programmes & Workspace offerings are customised to suit local authorities’ needs. Budgets can be tailored accordingly.
