Councils have influence over 80% of emissions, yet a lack of funding and powers is hindering their abilities to utilise this influence, just at the moment that their role in driving forward the clean energy transition is recognised by GB Energy. That could all change as councils explore the power of Strategic Energy Partnerships, where models like those in Bristol and Coventry are demonstrating what's possible. Join us on 22nd October, 2 - 4:30pm in London for an in person roundtable with energy experts, Mott MacDonald to explore what it takes to set up your own successful Strategic Energy Partnership.

What it is

This two-hour in-person roundtable in London on 22nd October, 2- 4:30pm, brings UK100 member councils together with our partners, Mott MacDonald, for an honest, practical and interactive session. Part roundtable, part surgery, it will give councils the space to ask the questions you really need answered, so you leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of the different Strategic Energy Partnerships models available
  • Practical guidance on what to consider and prepare before approaching procurement
  • Insight into who to involve, both internally and externally
  • Awareness of common pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • Confidence in building a compelling case for a SEP

Designed for councillors and officers involved in shaping and delivering a Strategic Energy Partnership, the event is best placed for:

  • Council Leaders or relevant Cabinet Members
  • Directors of Place / Environment
  • Energy teams
  • Finance teams
  • Legal and procurement teams

Places

We're limiting this session to 25 places (2 per council) to keep it focused and practical. Because of this, we're running an application process rather than first come, first served. Meaning signing up is an expression of interest, until we confirm your place . This lets us prioritise councils actively working on or exploring a Strategic Energy Partnership, so the room is full of people who'll get the most out of it. We aim to confirm your place by the end of September, latest.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but please apply by no later than 25th September. If you have any questions, or if you require the application form in an alternative format, please contact membership@uk100.org.
