Omility offers a portfolio of solutions to local authorities, whether it be fleet decarbonisation strategies, mobile telematics with a focus on driver efficiency or Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) management/reporting. All our solutions are enablers for local authorities to reach net zero targets through focusing on creating greener transportation and unlocking ESG goals.
Our primary solution for local authorities is fleet decarbonisation planning.
Decarbonising fleets is a complex process involving planning, designing, deploying, and operating. With local authorities operating a wide range of vehicles (e.g. cars, vans, refuse vehicles, road sweepers etc.) with varying operational needs and renewal cycles, our advanced software & consultancy services provide crucial insights on procurement and deployment strategies, giving confidence to accelerate the decarbonising of fleets.
Our fleet decarbonisation planning takes a data-driven approach, leveraging existing data (such as through telematics, where available) to calculate existing vehicle usage patterns and behaviours. Through physics-based modelling, we can accurately calculate requirements for alternatively fuelled vehicles (e.g. electric, hydrogen etc.), in addition to associated infrastructure, amongst other topics to provide a full decarbonisation plan which fulfils the needs of council services.
More details regarding the components entailed in our decarbonisation planning can be found in our latest Fleet News article.
Our solutions are suitable for all local authorities and partners who are looking to start/continue transitioning to a greener fleet. Given our data analysis and platform is vehicle/fuel type agnostic with global feeds of enriched data (e.g. road topography, weather etc.), there are no restrictions on the local authorities in the UK who can be supported through our solutions
Omility in collaboration with its partner channels have helped a number of fleets across the globe with their decarbonisation journey, either through conducting studies and/or providing software capabilities.
One notable achievement is MassCEC, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
The collaboration with MassCEC was initiated to increase adoption of electric fleets and ultimately help to overcome barriers in fleet electrification. The scope of this project covered the planning and development of 200 commercial fleets with varying vehicle types desired to be electrified.
Services included:
- Analysing existing fleet patterns and behaviour, focusing on route analysis and operational patterns.
- Identifying alternative vehicles/batteries based on analysis of existing fleet and alternative energy requirements.
- Determining required infrastructure, taking into consideration charging schedules, charging optimisation based on utility tariffs etc.
- Energy analysis, looking at demands (daily, peak etc.).
- Financial analysis inclusive of total cost of ownership (TCO), impact analysis etc.
Our services enabled fleets associated with the project to confidently transition to greener vehicles along with the associated infrastructure to fulfil operational needs. Our detailed analysis not only ensured operational assurance, but also prioritised cost efficiencies with the ongoing management of vehicles (e.g. considerations towards existing energy tariffs).
Besides global projects, Omility was shortlisted in the Catapult Local Authority Transport Decarbonisation Accelerator in addition to participating in Innovate UK challenges and having a number of active conversations with local authorities in the UK who are looking to decarbonise their fleet.
Our fleet decarbonisation studies are free of charge to local authorities as part of our continued commitment to provide a healthier environment for communities across the UK.
The fleet decarbonisation study includes a full decarbonisation report covering all elements from the analysis of the existing fleet, recommended alternative vehicles/infrastructure, energy analysis, and financial and emission calculations.
For a more interactive plan, our decarbonisation planning software is available on a 12-month license with pricing subject to user/vehicle volumes. Our software can be piloted free of charge before any license commitment.
Local authorities can contact Owen Mabbott (owen.mabbott@omility.com) who is the dedicated contact for providing support to local authorities.
Whilst our primary solution is fleet decarbonisation strategies, we also offer a range of other solutions such as decarbonisation planning simulations, energy/electric vehicle management and more. Therefore, please do not hesitate to get in touch as we may have additional solutions which can help even if not specifically mentioned here.
